Personal Advising Philosophy

My approach to academic advising is centered on a shared goal: helping students successfully navigate their educational journey and complete their degree requirements. I work with students to break down this process into manageable steps, guiding them toward a path that is both efficient and aligned with their individual learning styles and life commitments. This involves addressing both short-term goals, such as class selection and semester planning, as well as long-term goals and helping students map out potential pathways to achieve them.

My advising style is both solution-focused and holistic. I collaborate with students to identify their strengths and consider how they can leverage what’s working well to inform their next steps. I also recognize that each student has a unique background and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to advising. My goal is to help students develop strategies to balance the various facets of their lives, while also encouraging them to utilize the full range of support resources available on campus.
